All National Park Tours all FULL DAY TOURS, you will be leaving arround 6 am with a Boat to the respective park entrance along the coast. Accompanied by a bilingual naturalist guide you will go exploring the rain forest and its natural inhabitants. Enjoy a simple pick-nick and you will be back at the beach in the main town of Agujitas arround 2.30 pm

Hike approx. 1 hour through the rain forest to reach Alfredo and his Paraiso Verde, he comes and meets you at the National Park Ranger Station upon request

Be a Beach Bum for a day !

While Corcovado Backpackers itself is not at the beach there are several well secluded Beaches close by.

You can go Snorkeling by yourself on Bahia San Josecito or have a relaxing afternoon with an incredible sunset at San Josecito as well as a possible combination with a rainforest hike to Beach of Caletas.

  • Driving time to San Josecito around 10 minutes
  • Drive 10 minutes and walk 20 minutes for an independent snorkel adventure at Bahia San Josecito
  • Walk 1 hour to las Caletas Beach.

If you don’t have a car a Taxi drop off and pick up can be arranged.

RIVERS AND WATERFALLS

A relaxing day in the shade and fresh water !

Los Planes and Corcovado Backpackers are nestled between the Rio Claro River and the Agujitas River both have some great natural swimming holes to chill out from the heat and spend a relaxing day.

There are also a couple of waterfalls in the vecinity which you can visit for your enjoyment.

What to bring:

You can enjoy the Rivers of course for free! However if you want to visit some of the waterfalls an entrance fee to pass a private property.

EL TRILLO DE LA DANTA

The “trillo de la danta” (tapirs trail) tour, will bring you through both secondary and majestic primary rain forest right in the vicinities of Los Planes, and Corcovado Backpackers.

Explore the flora and fauna of the Osa Peninsula, learn about its ecology on a personal level with trained naturalist enthusiasts as your guide.Spot exotic birds and wildlife and learn about their habitat. With luck you ll observe animals such as peccaries, coatis, agoutis, dantas, sloths, as well as getting the chance to observe great variety of birds like scarlet macaws, toucans, hawks, hummingbirds, manakins and many others.

The tour includes a typical lunch at a private farm, where the local family will attend you. after you might have a refreshing dip into the cristal clear waters of rio claro river.

 

HORSEBACK RIDING

The village of Los Planes in Drake traditionally is a place for horses, which has been the means of transportation for many years and still is. Our neighbors have horses and over the following 2 horseback riding adventures right from the hostel

  • horseback up the Agujitas River in the Jungle all the way to a refreshing Waterfall
  • Ride through the rain forest to the beach and along it to the river mouth of rio claro to refresh yourself

A local horse guide will accompany you the whole time. bring your own pick-nick

LOS PLANES BEACH HIKE

Spend a day where the rain forest meet the ocean. Start hiking from the doorstep of Corcovado Backpackers and head down towards Caletas Beach through the majestic primary rainforest. Once your feet touch the golden sand you can make your way along the coastline through the rio claro wildlife refuge, where the rain forest meets the ocean and explore the coastline on your own. spot wildlife on the way and enjoy that wild robinson crusoe scenery. the ocean is always on your side on this trail. pack your own pick nick and enjoy a beautiful beach hike.

You can hike from the hostel, or drive down to either Caletas or Rincon Beach and Park your car there. We can also arrange a drop off at one point and a pick up at the other.
