Drake - Osa Peninsula

The Area of Drake Bay is located on the north western tip on the Osa Peninsula in southern Costa Rica.

It consists of several little towns such as El Progreso, Los Angeles, Agujitas (Drake), Los Planes and San Josecito. While there is no actual town named Drake Bay, the main town of Agujitas is commonly revered to as Drake Bay.

All tours that involve a boat will start from the town of Agujitas as it is next to the beach and the main hub for many of the classical adventures in Drake Bay. It is also the main entry point for the Corcovado National Park Station of San Pedrillo. 15 Miles of the coast lies the Caño Island, one of the best snorkel and diving spots in Costa Rica.

Drake Bay gets its name from the Sir Francis Drake, an English privateer and sea captain. There are several Drake Bay’s around the world, most of them where used by Drake as hideouts and planning his attacks on the Spanish vessels to whom he was regarded as a pirate. Read more about Drake here.
