Location / Reservation / Payment

We are at the coast  but NOT ON THE BEACH.
Corcovado Guest House is located in the small rain forest hamlet of Los Planes in Drake Bay on the Osa Peninsula in southern Costa Rica. We offer a small, familiar and private location bordering the rain forest in the vicinity of Corcovado National Park, 4km from the shores of the pacific ocean.

It is important to let us know how you plan to arrive

No you can’t. All stays have to be per-booked and pre-paid.

Corcovado Guest House is a private location and not open to public. You will have to book your stay in advance over this website or airbnb

All stays have to be prepaid.
You will get a PayPal invoice after your booking inquiry is please pay this invoice within 72 hours after receiving it to confirm your stay. you don’t need a paypal account, the invoice accepts all major credit cards

All tours and services outside of Corcovado Guest House are paid directly to the provider, either in cash of with a credit card (surcharges may apply)

We can gladly pre-book all the tours for you after you have made a successful reservation

We offer pick-up and drop off at the day of arrival/departure for 10 usd, it includes both ways. as long as our car drives

Drake Bay Airport is 20 usd.

this is a special price for our guests only with our own car

Please mention if your reservation if you need a pick up you will be billed with the stay.

Tours like Corcovado National Park and Cano Island include the taxi ride in the price

If you need a taxi during your stay and ATV taxi for 2 people costs 10 usd and a car up to 5 people costs between 15-20 usd one way to any beach in the area

Food and Supplies

There are no ATM’s or Banks in Drake Bay.
So make sure you bring enough cash to sustain yourself and pay for services. Most of the tour operators do accept credit cards but an additional amount might be charged.
Closest Banks are in Palmar Norte or Puerto Jimenez

We have a well stocked mini supermarket in our town Los Planes, 15 minutes walking from the house they also offer a delivery service

In the maintown of Agujitas there are 2 mini supermarkets which do offer and a vegetable and fruit store.

Nevertheless if you have a special diet or need special ingredients please stock up on your way to Corcovado Guest House in one of the bigger supermarkets in Palmar Norte, Rio Claro or Puerto Jimenez

You will find Ana’s Kitchen a 5 minutes walk from the House. Ana offers exquisite local cuisine prepared with love and taste.

One of the little stores in Los Planes, has a little local “soda” restaurant attached to it and serves fried food.

If you have a car and if not a taxi can easily arranged. you can visit Bella Vista Restaurant over looking Rincon/San Josecito Bay and enjoy a heartly local meal whilst gazing at the sea.

In the main town of Agujitas you will find several options for eating out.

If you have vehicle you can get Diesel or Gasoline for your Vehicle at a slightly higher price.

Make sure to “gas up” at the Gas Station at Palmar Norte, Chacarita, La Palma or Puerto Jimenez

All what you need to make yourself feel comfortable but following items are advisable to pack:

  • a good flashlight
  • comfortable shoes for hikes
  • raincoat
  • sun screen
  • insect repellent
  • special diet items
  • personal medicine
  • enough cash

Please be aware that we are in the middle of the rain forest and garbadge disposal is a major problem in the countryside
Please don’t bring stuff you plan to leave behind
Keep in mind that plastic takes forever to decompose when you go shopping, better ask for carton boxes at the store “Disculpe, tienen cajas?”
Please bring rechargable Batteries as there are no battery recycling plants in costa rica and you can not leave them here. Thanks!

No Pets allowed

Indeed there is a small emergency clinic with one doctor and a nurse in the maintown of Agujitas. It is very basic. there is also a little private clinic
Please if you have a medical condition and need special medicines, bring them with you.

close to 150 mts above the sea level and it is save to say that mosquito are not a problem here. Of course the possibility always exists but it is normally not the case. Bring your preferred repellent just in case or when you go to the beach (sandflies).
Nevertheless depending on the season, we also do get some during the rainy months. We do have mosquito nets.
