Go snorkeling or diving in the (mostly) cristal clear water of Caño Island, some 15 miles of the Coast of Drake.

Discover schools of different Fish, with some luck you might spot a Seaturtle and white thip reef sharks. Even on the way to the Island you might get lucky and spot some dolphins or even a humpback whale

Tours leave arround 7 am – and return by 2.30 pm.

PRIVATE PELAGIC DOLPHIN TOUR

This private pelagic ocean adventure is a full day tour in the open ocean on the search of the several hundred strong groups of spinner dolphins of the coast of drake bay. you ll spend the whole day on the boat and see the vast endless pacific ocean in front of you whilst trying to get a glimpse of this marvelous nature spectacle, as seen in the documentary “our planet”…fishing is allowed and the captain carries gear on request so you can catch your dinner on the way back.

leave the drake bay area around 7 am and return at 4 pm.

WHALE AND DOLPHIN WATCHING

The tranquil waters of Drake Bay offers one of the longest Whale Watching season as whales from both poles migrate for mating and to raise their young.

However the peak time for a Whale Watching Tour is between Agust and November however they are also spotted during the months of March and June.

You may encounter :

  • Pilot Whales
  • False Killer Whales
  • Sei Whale
  • Beaked Whale

The Humpback Whale is by far the most common to spot.

Dolphins can be spotted year round such as:

Be a Beach Bum for a day !

While Corcovado Backpackers itself is not at the beach there are several well secluded Beaches close by.

You can go Snorkeling by yourself on Bahia San Josecito or have a relaxing afternoon with an incredible sunset at San Josecito as well as a possible combination with a rainforest hike to Beach of Caletas.

  • Driving time to San Josecito around 10 minutes
  • Drive 10 minutes and walk 20 minutes for an independent snorkel adventure at Bahia San Josecito
  • Walk 1 hour to las Caletas Beach.

If you don’t have a car a Taxi drop off and pick up can be arranged.

LOS PLANES BEACH HIKE

Spend a day where the rain forest meet the ocean. Start hiking from the doorstep of Corcovado Backpackers and head down towards Caletas Beach through the majestic primary rainforest. Once your feet touch the golden sand you can make your way along the coastline through the rio claro wildlife refuge, where the rain forest meets the ocean and explore the coastline on your own. spot wildlife on the way and enjoy that wild robinson crusoe scenery. the ocean is always on your side on this trail. pack your own pick nick and enjoy a beautiful beach hike.

You can hike from the hostel, or drive down to either Caletas or Rincon Beach and Park your car there. We can also arrange a drop off at one point and a pick up at the other.
